It is a hot afternoon in the savanna. A big lion sleeps under a tree. A tiny mouse runs over his nose. The lion wakes up, and he is very angry.
The lion catches the mouse with his big paw. "Please, let me go," says the mouse. "I'm small, but one day I might help you." The lion laughs. "You? Help me? You're too small!" But the lion feels kind today. He opens his paw, and the mouse runs away.
A few days later, the lion walks in the forest. Suddenly, he gets caught in a hunter's net! He pulls and pulls, but he cannot get out. He roars. His roar is loud, and everybody in the forest can hear it.
The mouse hears the roar. He runs to the lion as fast as he can. "Don't move," he says. "I can help you." The mouse chews through the ropes with his sharp teeth. One rope breaks. Then another rope breaks. The net opens, and the lion is free.
The lion looks at the mouse. He is not laughing now. "Thank you, little friend," he says. "You're small, but you're very brave." The mouse smiles. Nobody is too small to help.
