What is Common mistakes?

Spanish speakers make very predictable mistakes when learning English, almost always from translating word for word. Knowing them in advance helps avoid them: dropping the subject, misusing prepositions, saying age with have, or falling for false cognates.

When to use it

Review this list when you write or speak, especially at levels A1 and A2. Fixing these patterns improves your English more than learning new vocabulary, because they appear in almost every sentence.

Common mistakes and tips for Spanish speakers

  • "Tengo 20 años" is "I am 20", not "I have 20 years". Age uses the verb be.
  • "Hace frío" is "It is cold": the subject it is compulsory, just like in "It is late".
  • You do not say "I am agree". You say "I agree", because agree is already a verb.
