CORNER DINER. Next to the gas station on Route 9. TUESDAY MENU (only on Tuesdays). Hello! I'm Gus, the cook. Dottie is the waitress. She is here every day, and she knows everybody. On Tuesdays, I make a special menu. Here is the truth about every dish.

1. Pancakes with honey: $6. This is the best dish on the menu. I make them with my grandma's recipe. Order them before ten. After ten, there are no more.

2. The Big Breakfast: $11. Two eggs, bacon, beans, toast and a sausage. It is the biggest plate in the diner. Truck drivers love it. Nobody finishes it. Nobody.

3. A grilled cheese sandwich: $7. Sometimes I burn it a little. If it is black, tell Dottie. You don't pay.

4. Apple pie: $4. It is not my pie. My neighbor makes it. It is better than my pie. 5. Coffee: $2. Dottie makes the coffee. It is very strong. One cup is enough for the day.

6. The Tuesday Surprise: $9. What is in it? I don't know. Ask Dottie. She knows.
