It is six o'clock in the morning. Nina walks along the beach promenade with her dog, Bruno. There is nobody around. There is only the sea, the sand, and the sound of the birds. "What a quiet morning," says Nina.
Suddenly, Bruno sees a seagull on the sand. He pulls the leash very hard. The leash slips out of Nina's hand! Bruno runs after the bird. "Bruno! Come back!" shouts Nina.
Bruno is very fast. He runs past the ice cream stand. He jumps over a sand castle. He runs under a bench and between two tables. The seagull flies up, but Bruno does not stop.
Nina runs behind him, but she is not fast. "Please stop!" she says, and she is out of breath. Bruno runs to a small red hut next to the sea. The door is open, and he goes in.
Nina stops in front of the hut. Inside, there is a lifeguard. He is eating breakfast. There is a sausage on the table, and Bruno is next to the table. He looks at the sausage with big, happy eyes.
The lifeguard laughs. He gives the sausage to Bruno. Bruno eats it in one second. Then he lies down at the lifeguard's feet and goes to sleep. "Good morning," says the lifeguard. "I think your dog likes my breakfast." Nina sits on the floor next to them and starts to laugh.
