and his sister Mia were hiking up Blue Mountain on a hot summer morning. They were having a great time, and the view from the top was going to be amazing. Then Mia pointed at the sky. "Jake, look at those clouds." They were dark and heavy, and they were moving fast.

Jake checked his watch. "We need to hurry," he said. "The car is still two hours away." He tried to call their parents, but his phone had no signal. "It doesn't matter," Mia said. "Let's go down now." They turned around and started to walk quickly.

Suddenly, thunder crashed above them, and heavy rain began to pour. The trail turned into a river of mud. Mia was walking fast when her foot slipped on a wet rock. She fell forward and grabbed a tree branch just in time. She was breathing hard. "Are you okay?" Jake shouted over the wind. "I'm okay!" Mia shouted back. "But I can't see the trail!"

Jake looked around. Through the rain, he saw something dark between two big rocks. "Over there!" he said. They ran to it. It was a small cave, just big enough for two people. They sat close together, cold and wet, and listened to the rain hitting the rocks outside. "Are you scared?" Mia asked quietly. "A little," Jake said. "But we're safe here."

After an hour, the thunder moved away and the rain stopped. The sky turned bright again. They climbed down the mountain slowly, tired, muddy, but safe.

At the bottom, Jake's phone finally found a signal. It buzzed again and again. There were twenty missed calls from their parents, and one text: "We already called the park rangers!" He quickly wrote back: "We're okay! Explaining everything at home." Jake looked at Mia and laughed. "I think we're in more trouble now than we were on the mountain."
