¿Qué es Cuantificadores?

Los cuantificadores expresan cantidad: some, any, many, much, a lot of, a few, a little, few, little. Cuál usar depende de si el sustantivo es contable (books) o incontable (water), y de si la oración es afirmativa, negativa o una pregunta.

Cuándo se usa

Con contables: many, a few, few, several. Con incontables: much, a little, little. Con ambos: some, any, a lot of, plenty of. Some se usa en afirmativas y ofertas; any en negativas y preguntas.

Errores y consejos si hablas español

  • A few y a little son positivos ("tengo algunos"); few y little son casi negativos ("casi no tengo"). "I have a few friends" y "I have few friends" no dicen lo mismo.
  • Many y much se usan sobre todo en negativas y preguntas; en afirmativas se prefiere a lot of.
  • Money, water, time y information son incontables: "How much money?" y no "How many money?".

Ejemplos

  • I don't have much time.

    No tengo mucho tiempo.
