Comparación directa

Either
determinante / pronombre / adverbio / conjuncion

(3) CONJUNCION: "Either...or": "Either come early or call ahead" = o llegas temprano o llamas. (4) ADVERBIO en negativas: "I don't like it either" = yo tampoco (agreeing with a negative).

  • Either Tuesday or Wednesday works for the meeting — just let me know which you prefer.

  • I have read both proposals and either of them could work — they address the same core problem differently.

  • "I did not enjoy the conference." — "I did not enjoy it either."

"No disfruté la conferencia." — "Yo tampoco la disfruté."

"No he ido a ese restaurante." — "Yo tampoco: quiza deberiamos probarlo juntos."

Error frecuente

El error de concordancia: "Neither of them are ready" — en el ingles formal, "neither" es singular: "Neither of them IS ready." En el habla cotidiana, "neither of them are" es muy comun y ampliamente aceptado, pero en el ingles formal la concordancia singular es la correcta. El segundo error: "I don't like it neither" = INCORRECTO (doble negativo). Con una oracion ya negativa (don't), usa EITHER: "I don't like it either." NEITHER se usa en oraciones afirmativas que tienen sentido negativo: "Neither do I." / "Neither of them came."

"So do I" o "Me too." "Neither do I" o "Me neither" o "I don't either." "I love pizza" -> "So do I." "I don't like pizza" -> "Neither do I" / "I don't either." Nunca: "I don't like it neither" = doble negativo = incorrecto en ingles estandar.

_____ of the two proposals was accepted — the committee rejected both and asked for a complete revision.

Ejercicio 2 · Elige la correcta

"I have never been to New Zealand." — "_____ have I — it is definitely on my travel list."

Ejercicio 3 · Forma la palabra

Complete: "The report will be ready _____ tomorrow or the day after — it depends on how long the final review takes."

Pista: Two options are being presented: tomorrow OR the day after. Which word introduces two alternatives with "or"?
