"Even if" se usa para HIPOTETICOS o CONDICIONES INCIERTAS (aunque fuera cierto / aunque ocurriera); "even though" se usa para hechos REALES Y ACTUALES (a pesar de que es cierto).
EVEN IF: conjuncion CONDICIONAL HIPOTETICA. Se usa cuando la condicion es INCIERTA, IMPROBABLE, o HIPOTETICA. Indica que el resultado no cambiaria ni siquiera si la condicion se cumpliera. "Even if it rains, we will go" = no sabemos si va a llover, pero si llueve (hipotetico), iremos igualmente. "Even if I were rich, I would not buy that" = (hipotetico, no soy rico) aun en ese caso hipotetico, no compraria eso. La condicion es algo que NO HA OCURRIDO o cuya ocurrencia es INCIERTA. Equivalente a "aunque (hipotetico)" en espanol.

EVEN THOUGH: conjuncion CONCESIVA DE HECHO REAL. Se usa cuando la condicion es un HECHO REAL Y CONFIRMADO. "Even though it is raining, we will go" = ESTA LLOVIENDO AHORA MISMO (hecho real), y a pesar de eso, iremos. "Even though I was tired, I finished the project" = ERA REALMENTE TIREDNESS (hecho confirmado del pasado). La condicion con EVEN THOUGH es algo que REALMENTE OCURRIO o que ES VERDAD ACTUALMENTE. Equivalente a "aunque (realidad)" o "a pesar de que (real)" en espanol. Sinonimos en ingles: ALTHOUGH, THOUGH (mas formal/informal respectivamente).

Error frecuente
El error mas comun: usar EVEN IF para hechos reales. "Even if I was tired, I finished the project" = incorrecto si de verdad estabas cansado (hecho real). Cuando la condicion es un HECHO REAL del pasado, usa EVEN THOUGH: "Even though I was tired..." El segundo error: usar EVEN THOUGH para hipoteticos. "Even though it rains, we will go" = gramaticalmente suena como si ya estuviera lloviendo ahora. Si el proposito es decir "aunque llueva (hipotetico/incierto)", usa EVEN IF: "Even if it rains, we will go." La distincion es sutil pero importante en el ingles formal: EVEN IF = condicion hipotetica o incierta. EVEN THOUGH = hecho real y confirmado.
