Another es otro más, con un sustantivo en singular; other va con plurales o después de the; others va sola, sin sustantivo.
Regla rápida
En español todo es "otro". ¿Uno más? Another. ¿Antes de un plural, o después de the o my? Other. ¿Varios, sin sustantivo después? Others.
Va antes de un sustantivo en plural (other people) o después de the, my o some: the other day, my other sister.
Otro más, o uno distinto, con un sustantivo en singular: another coffee. Se escribe junto.
Es pronombre: va sola, sin sustantivo después. Some like it; others don't. The others son los demás.

Por qué te confundes
En español todo es "otro": otro café, otras personas, los otros. En inglés depende de lo que sigue: another con un sustantivo en singular (es an + other), other con plurales o después de the o my, y others cuando ya no hay sustantivo. Por eso "otros días" es other days, sin -s en other.

"Otro" con un sustantivo en singular es another. Other sin the o my no va antes de un singular.

Antes de un sustantivo, other no lleva -s aunque sea plural: other options.

Another va con singular. Con plural, other: other shoes.
Truco
Another lleva la a de "an" adentro: es un otro, uno más. Others lleva la -s porque hace el trabajo de un sustantivo en plural: los otros. Sin sustantivo y en singular es the other: el otro.
