Por eso sale "my favorite theme is math".

Errores frecuentes

Mal: My favorite theme at school is math.

Bien: My favorite subject at school is math.

Mal: Let's change the theme; I don't want to talk about work.

Bien: Let's change the subject; I don't want to talk about work.

Depende

Subject y topic se pisan
Para una charla o una conversación suelen servir los dos: the subject of the talk o the topic of the talk.
