Error frecuente

Los cuatro errores mas comunes: (1) "More bigger" = INCORRECTO (double comparative). Los adjetivos cortos solo usan -ER: "bigger" (no "more bigger"). (2) "The most fast" = INCORRECTO. Los adjetivos de 1 silaba solo usan -EST: "the fastest." (3) "She is the best of the two" = INCORRECTO. Para DOS elementos, usa COMPARATIVO: "She is the BETTER of the two." EL SUPERLATIVO (the best) es para TRES O MAS. (4) Olvidar THE con el superlativo: "She is best in the class" = suena extrano en el ingles estandar. El superlativo casi siempre va con THE: "She is THE BEST in the class."

Truco para recordarlo

La REGLA DE LAS SILABAS: 1 silaba = -ER / -EST (tall/taller/tallest). 2+ silabas = MORE / MOST (beautiful/more beautiful/most beautiful). 2 silabas en -Y = cambia a -IER / -IEST (happy/happier/happiest). IRREGULARES a memorizar: good-better-best, bad-worse-worst, far-farther-farthest, little-less-least. La REGLA DE LOS ELEMENTOS: 2 elementos = COMPARATIVO + "than". 3+ elementos = THE + SUPERLATIVO + "in/of". "She is TALLER THAN her sister" (2). "She is THE TALLEST in the family" (3+).

Regla rápida

Comparativo: adj + -er o MORE + adj + than (dos elementos). Superlativo: THE + adj + -est o THE MOST + adj (tres o mas, extremo absoluto). Irregulares clave: good/better/best, bad/worse/worst.

¿Sabías que...?

El ingles tiene una particularidad notable: algunos adjetivos de dos silabas pueden formarse de AMBAS maneras (con -ER/-EST y con MORE/MOST) y ambas son correctas. "Clever/cleverer/cleverest" y "clever/more clever/most clever" son igualmente validas.
