Por qué te confundes

En español todo es "hacer que": me hizo esperar, hice que lo arreglaran, hice que me ayudara. En inglés depende de cómo: si obligas, make; si encargas un trabajo, have; si convences, get. Y cambia lo que va después: make y have sin to, get con to.

Errores frecuentes

Mal: She made me to wait outside.

Bien: She made me wait outside.

"Me hizo esperar": después de make + persona va el verbo sin to.

Mal: I made my hair cut.

Bien: I had my hair cut.

"Me corté el pelo" en la peluquería lo hizo otra persona por encargo: es have (o get) + algo + participio, no make.

Mal: I got my sister help me.

Bien: I got my sister to help me.

"Logré que mi hermana me ayudara" con get lleva to: get + persona + to + verbo.

Truco

Make y have van sin to: make me laugh, have him call. Get es el que pide to, porque hay que convencer: get him to call. ¿Obligas? Make. ¿Encargas? Have. ¿Convences? Get.

Depende

Have something done sin querer
Have + algo + participio también cuenta algo malo que te pasó: She had her phone stolen. Nadie lo encargó.
Let, allow y force
Let va como make, sin to: let me go. Allow y force van como get, con to: allow me to go. La página de make, let, allow y permit sigue con ellos.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre make y have en causativo?

Make es obligar: She made him apologize. Have es encargar un trabajo, sin presión: I had the plumber fix the sink. Los dos van sin to.

¿Cómo se dice "hacer que alguien haga algo" en inglés?

Con make si no hay opción (The coach made us run), con have si es un encargo (I had the hotel call a taxi) y con get + to si hubo que pedirlo: I got Sam to drive.

¿Qué significa have something done?

Que otra persona lo hace por ti: I had my car washed (mandé a lavar el carro). También puede ser algo malo que te pasó: I had my wallet stolen.
