NOWHERE = en ninguna parte. Regla clave: NO va seguido de un sustantivo; NONE/NOTHING/NOBODY van SOLOS (sin sustantivo despues).
NO COMO DETERMINANTE (ADJETIVO): precede SIEMPRE a un sustantivo (o adjetivo + sustantivo). Sustituye a "not a" (singular contable), "not any" (plural o incontable). "There is no time to lose" = no hay tiempo que perder. "No additional information is required" = no se requiere informacion adicional. "No candidates met the requirements" = ningun candidato cumplio los requisitos. EXPRESIONES IMPORTANTES: "no one" (pronombre/determinante) = nadie. "no way" = de ninguna manera. "no longer" = ya no. "in no time" = enseguida. DIFERENCIA ESTILISTICA: NO es mas directo y enfatico que NOT ANY: "There is no money" (enfatico, directo) vs "There is not any money" (mas coloquial). "No effort was spared" = no se escatimo esfuerzo. USO FORMAL: NO + sustantivo es muy comun en el ingles formal escrito (informes, normas, avisos): "No liability is accepted" / "No smoking."

CONCORDANCIA DE NONE: formalmente NONE + verbo singular ("None of the data is reliable"). En el ingles moderno informal, NONE + verbo plural es muy comun ("None of the candidates were selected"). NOTHING: pronombre para referirse a cosas — "no thing / ninguna cosa." "There is nothing we can do" = no hay nada que podamos hacer. "Nothing was resolved" = nada se resolvio. NOBODY / NO ONE: pronombre para referirse a personas. "Nobody attended the meeting" = nadie asistio a la reunion. "No one was informed in advance" = nadie fue informado con antelacion. NOWHERE: "The solution was nowhere to be found" = la solucion no se encontraba en ningun lugar. La DOBLE NEGATIVA — "I don't know nothing" en lugar de "I don't know anything" — es uno de los rasgos mas estigmatizados del ingles no estandar, pero paradojicamente es la forma MAS LOGICA desde el punto de vista de la mayoria de las lenguas del mundo. El espanol, el frances, el italiano, el ruso, el arabe y cientos de otras lenguas REQUIEREN la doble negativa para intensificar o confirmar la negacion. "No sé nada" = "I don't know nothing" (doble negativa en espanol). En el ingles medieval (hasta el siglo XVII), la doble negativa era igualmente normal y aceptada: Chaucer escribe "He nevere yet no vileynye ne sayde" (nunca dijo nada de mala educacion) con TRES negativas. Fue en el siglo XVIII cuando los gramaticos prescriptivos, influenciados por la logica matematica, decidieron que "dos negativos hacen un positivo" y prohibieron la doble negativa en el ingles estandar. El resultado es que el ingles estandar es MENOS logico que la mayoria de las lenguas del mundo en este aspecto, pero la norma ya esta consolidada.
