¿Sabías que...?

La distincion IN/ON/AT para el tiempo es una de las mas buscadas en Google por los estudiantes de ingles — y con razon, porque es una de las mas irregulares. Lo que hace que sea tan dificil para los hispanohablantes es que el espanol usa principalmente DOS preposiciones para el tiempo — "en" y "a" — donde el ingles usa tres (y con excepciones). "En enero" = IN January. "El lunes" = ON Monday (con diferente preposicion e incluso con articulo definido vs sin articulo). "A las 9" = AT 9. La complejidad adicional es que algunas expresiones no llevan ninguna preposicion en ingles ("last Monday / next year") cuando el espanol si las lleva ("el lunes pasado / el ano que viene"). Los linguistas llaman a las preposiciones uno de los aspectos mas idiomaticos de cualquier lengua porque su uso rara vez se puede deducir logicamente — hay que aprenderlas caso por caso. Las preposiciones de tiempo del ingles son especialmente notables porque la distincion IN/ON/AT refleja una escala de precision temporal que es bastante sistematica una vez que se comprende la logica subyacente.
