SUGGEST + -ING = "She suggested taking a break" (sugiero hacer algo). SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto = "She suggested that we should take a break" / "She suggested that we take a break" (subjuntivo americano). SUGGEST NO lleva TO: "She suggested to take a break" = INCORRECTO. SUGGEST NO lleva objeto directo de persona: "She suggested me to go" = INCORRECTO. "She suggested that I should go" = correcto.
"The consultant suggested restructuring the department" = el consultor sugirió reestructurar el departamento. "I suggest reviewing the proposal before the meeting" = sugiero revisar la propuesta antes de la reunion. "Has anyone suggested postponing the launch?" "I recommend reading the report" (nunca "recommend to read" en este sentido).

I suggest allocating at least two additional weeks to the user testing phase, as the feedback gathered from the initial pilot indicates that there are several usability issues that should be addressed before the product is released to the wider market.

SUGGEST + THAT + CLAUSULA: cuando se necesita especificar QUIEN deberia hacer la accion, se usa una clausula "that" con sujeto explicito. TRES OPCIONES: (1) SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + SHOULD + bare infinitivo: "She suggested that we should review the budget" (el mas comun e internacional). (2) SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + pasado subjuntivo (ingles britanico formal): "She suggested that we reviewed the budget" (raro, muy formal). (3) SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + bare infinitivo (presente subjuntivo — ingles americano formal): "She suggested that we review the budget" (sin SHOULD, sin -s en tercera persona). SUGGEST NO ACEPTA: "She suggested him to go" = INCORRECTO (SUGGEST no puede llevar objeto de persona + infinitivo como TELL/ASK/WANT). "She suggested to go" = INCORRECTO (no TO antes del infinitivo directamente despues de SUGGEST).

Error frecuente
LOS TRES ERRORES TIPICOS: (1) SUGGEST + TO + infinitivo: "I suggest to review the report" = INCORRECTO. SUGGEST no acepta TO directamente: "I suggest reviewing" (gerundio) o "I suggest that we should review" (clausula). (2) SUGGEST + objeto de persona + TO + infinitivo: "She suggested me to attend the meeting" = INCORRECTO. SUGGEST no funciona como TELL/ASK/WANT + persona + TO. "She suggested that I should attend" = correcto. "She suggested attending the meeting" = correcto (sin mencionar a quien). (3) SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + should + -S en tercera persona: "She suggested that he should reviews..." = INCORRECTO. Despues de SHOULD = bare infinitive: "should review." (4) RECOMMEND = mismo patron que SUGGEST: "I recommend reading / I recommend that you should read / I recommend reading" — nunca "I recommend you to read."
Truco para recordarlo
SUGGEST + -ING = sugerencia sin sujeto especifico. SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + SHOULD = sugerencia especificando quien. SUGGEST NUNCA + TO directamente. SUGGEST NUNCA + persona + TO. TEST: ¿necesitas decir QUIEN? = THAT + sujeto + SHOULD. ¿No necesitas decirlo o es obvio? = -ING. "I suggest taking..." "I suggest that SHE should take..." (especifico quien).
Regla rápida
SUGGEST + -ING: "I suggest reviewing the report." SUGGEST + THAT + sujeto + should/subjuntivo: "I suggest that we should review / that we review." NUNCA: "suggest to review" / "suggest me to review" / "suggest you to go."
