Common mistake
"Look at your clock" when the person is wearing it on their wrist is wrong. If they wear it, it is a "watch". "Clock" is for fixed timepieces: wall clocks, desk clocks, or tower clocks.

The verb "watch" (to observe) and the noun "watch" (wristwatch) are the same word. Early pocket watches required you to "watch" (observe) them closely to read the time. "O'clock" comes from "of the clock": "at 3 of the clock" shortened to "3 o'clock". And "clockwise" refers to the direction clock hands move, before clocks, the reference direction was the path of the sun across the sky.
