ARRIVE es INTRANSITIVO: siempre necesita preposicion antes del lugar (arrive IN + ciudad/pais, arrive AT + lugar especifico). REACH y GET TO son TRANSITIVOS: van directamente seguidos del lugar sin preposicion. "Arrive London" = INCORRECTO. "Reach London" / "Get to London" = correcto.
"We arrived in Madrid at midnight" = llegamos a Madrid. "They arrived in Spain after a long flight." (2) ARRIVE AT: para lugares especificos, puntos, destinos concretos, o construcciones. "We arrived at the airport three hours early." "They arrived at the hotel reception desk." "She arrived at a decision after weeks of deliberation" (llego a una decision = uso figurado). ARRIVE AT THE OFFICE (lugar especifico de trabajo) pero ARRIVE IN THE CITY. (3) ARRIVE HOME / ARRIVE THERE / ARRIVE HERE: sin preposicion cuando el "lugar" es un adverbio (home, here, there, somewhere, anywhere, nowhere). "We finally arrived home." "Did you arrive there safely?" Regla de seleccion: CIUDAD/PAIS/REGION = IN. LUGAR ESPECIFICO/PUNTO/EDIFICIO = AT.

REACH y GET TO: verbos transitivos de llegada — van DIRECTAMENTE seguidos del lugar SIN preposicion. "We finally reached the summit after six hours of climbing" = alcanzamos la cima. "The delegation reached Geneva late on Tuesday evening." Uso figurado muy comun: "reach a conclusion / an agreement / a decision / a compromise / the top." GET TO: mas informal y coloquial. "How do I get to the train station from here?" "We got to the hotel just before midnight." Importante: GET TO HOME = INCORRECTO. Sin preposicion "to" cuando va seguido de adverbio: "get home / get there / get here" (no "get to home / get to there"). GET TO vs ARRIVE AT: identicos en significado, GET TO es mas informal. REACH vs GET TO: REACH suena mas literario/formal y a menudo implica distancia o esfuerzo. GET TO es el mas comun en el ingles oral cotidiano.

Error frecuente
En ingles: "arrive IN" (ciudades/paises), "arrive AT" (lugares especificos), NUNCA "arrive TO." "We arrived to the airport" = INCORRECTO. Correcto: "We arrived AT the airport." (2) "Reach to" = INCORRECTO. REACH ya es transitivo — no necesita ninguna preposicion: "We reached to the top" = INCORRECTO. "We reached the top" = correcto. (3) "Get to home / get to here / get to there" = INCORRECTO. Con adverbios de lugar (home, here, there), GET va SIN TO: "get home / get here / get there." (4) ARRIVE vs REACH para acuerdos/conclusiones: en el uso figurado, solo ARRIVE AT y REACH son correctos: "arrive at / reach a conclusion / an agreement / a decision." NO: "arrive in a conclusion" / "get to an agreement." "What time did you get to the office?" = natural. "What time did you arrive at the office?" = correcto y mas formal.
Truco para recordarlo
LA REGLA DEL TRANSITIVO: ARRIVE = intransitivo (necesita preposicion: IN o AT). REACH = transitivo (directo, sin preposicion). GET TO = transitivo (directo, sin preposicion). TRUCO PARA IN vs AT: ARRIVE IN ciudad/pais/region (area grande, "dentro de"). ARRIVE AT punto especifico/edificio/destino (llegar AL punto exacto). TRUCO ADVERBIOS: home/here/there NO llevan preposicion con GET ("get home") pero SI la llevan con ARRIVE con adverbio: en realidad con ARRIVE tampoco: "arrive home" (no "arrive at home"). FIGURA DE ACUERDO/DECISION: REACH o ARRIVE AT = llegar a un acuerdo/conclusion. "We reached / arrived at an agreement." GET TO no se usa en sentido figurado para acuerdos.
Regla rápida
ARRIVE IN ciudad/pais. ARRIVE AT lugar especifico/edificio. NUNCA "arrive to." REACH + lugar/acuerdo (sin preposicion). GET TO + lugar (sin preposicion). GET home/here/there (sin "to" delante de adverbios). Acuerdos: arrive at / reach a decision/agreement (nunca "arrive in" ni "get to" en sentido figurado).
