¿Sabías que...?
La distincion NEITHER/EITHER/BOTH para exactamente dos elementos es una caracteristica del ingles que muchas otras lenguas no tienen de forma tan explicita. En espanol, "ambos" = both, pero "ninguno" y "cualquiera" son mas versatiles (pueden usarse con mas de dos elementos). Lo interesante desde el punto de vista linguistico es que el ingles es MAS especifico que el espanol para la dualidad: tiene formas dedicadas (both/neither/either) que solo aplican a DOS elementos, mientras que el espanol usa generalmente "ambos/ninguno/cualquiera" sin esa restriccion numerica tan estricta. Esta especificidad del ingles para el numero DOS es un resto del sistema gramatical del ingles antiguo, que tenia TRES numeros: singular (uno), dual (dos), y plural (tres o mas). Aunque el dual gramatical desaparecio hace siglos del ingles, su legado sobrevive en la restriccion de BOTH/NEITHER/EITHER a exactamente dos elementos.
