Comparación directa

Loath
adjetivo

"I am loath to admit it" = soy muy reacio a admitirlo. Siempre va seguido de un infinitivo con "to": "loath to + verb". Nunca se usa solo sin un complemento.

  • She was loath to leave the warm house on such a cold morning.

  • He was loath to admit that the project had failed, despite all the evidence.

  • I am loath to make any promises before I have reviewed the full contract.

"I loathe dishonesty" = aborrezco la deshonestidad. Se conjuga normalmente: loathe, loathes, loathed, loathing.

  • She absolutely loathes the smell of fish — she cannot even walk past a seafood restaurant.

  • He loathed the commute so much that he eventually quit and found a remote job.

  • I loathe having to repeat myself in meetings — good documentation would prevent it entirely.

"I am loathe to do it" es incorrecto; la forma correcta es "I am loath to do it."

LOATHE (con E) = verbo ("I loathe broccoli"). LOATH (sin E) = adjetivo ("I am loath to eat it").

Loath (sin E) = adjetivo, reacio (I am loath to + verbo). Loathe (con E) = verbo, aborrecer (I loathe + sustantivo).

She absolutely _____ the sound of people chewing — she cannot eat in the same room as anyone else.

Ejercicio 3 · Forma la palabra

Pista: You feel intense disgust or dislike toward something (repeating yourself). Which form is the verb meaning "to detest intensely"? It takes a direct object after it.
