Error frecuente
La confusion es identica a la de lay/lie: "sit" es intransitivo (el sujeto mismo se sienta), "set" es transitivo (pones algo en algun lugar). "Set down and relax" = INCORRECTO. Debes sentarte TU MISMO = SIT down. "Sit the box on the floor" = INCORRECTO. Estas colocando la caja (objeto directo) = SET the box on the floor. En el habla dialectal del sur de Estados Unidos, "set" se usa informalmente como sinonimo de "sit" ("Set down, honey"), pero en el ingles estandar son verbos distintos con funciones gramaticales diferentes.
