Comparación directa

So do I / So am I / So have I (yo tambien)

"I enjoy the new system." / "So do I" = yo tambien (lo disfruto). El AUXILIAR debe coincidir con el tiempo del enunciado original: PRESENT SIMPLE -> SO DO/DOES I/he/she. "She reads a lot." / "So does he." PAST SIMPLE -> SO DID. "They visited the office." / "So did we." PRESENT PERFECT -> SO HAVE/HAS. "I have finished." / "So have they." BE -> SO AM/IS/ARE. "She is tired." / "So am I." HAVE (posesivo) -> SO DO. "I have a car." / "So do I" (ingles americano) o "So have I" (ingles britanico, menos comun). COLOQUIAL: "Me too" = equivalente informal de "So do I."

  • "Our team found the transition to the new project management platform significantly more intuitive than the previous system." / "So did ours — the onboarding curve was much shorter than we had anticipated."

  • "The regional director has already reviewed and approved the revised proposal." / "So has the chief financial officer — we received her sign-off early this morning."

  • "I am genuinely impressed by the depth of the market analysis in this report." / "So am I — it is considerably more thorough than what we typically receive from external research providers."

Neither do I / Nor am I / Neither have I (yo tampoco)

"I do not enjoy the early meetings." / "Neither do I" = yo tampoco (los disfruto). "She doesn't like it." / "Neither does he." PAST SIMPLE NEGATIVO -> NEITHER DID. "They didn't attend." / "Neither did we." BE NEGATIVO -> NEITHER AM/IS/ARE. "I am not sure." / "Neither am I." PRESENT PERFECT NEGATIVO -> NEITHER HAVE/HAS. "I haven't seen it." / "Neither have they." COLOQUIAL: "Me neither" o "Neither do I" = equivalentes. "I don't either" = alternativa coloquial americana.

  • "The compliance team has not yet completed the third-party vendor assessment for this quarter." / "Neither has the risk management function — both teams are dealing with significant resource constraints."

  • "I don't believe the current proposal adequately addresses the scalability concerns raised in the technical review." / "Neither does the engineering lead — she has flagged the same issue in her written feedback."

  • "The organization was not adequately prepared for the pace of regulatory change in this sector." / "Nor were most of its competitors — the speed of the policy shift caught the entire industry off guard."

Error frecuente

LOS ERRORES MAS COMUNES: (1) Auxiliar incorrecto. "I worked hard." / "So did I work hard" = INCORRECTO. La respuesta debe ser solo "So did I" (sin repetir el verbo principal). La estructura es: SO + AUXILIAR + SUJETO (no mas). (2) No invertir sujeto y auxiliar. "I have seen it." / "So I have." = INCORRECTO. Correcto: "So HAVE I" (inversion). (3) "So do I" en respuesta a enunciados negativos. "I don't enjoy it." / "So do I" = INCORRECTO (implica que tu tambien no-disfrutas de una forma extraña). Correcto: "Neither do I." (4) "Neither I do" = INCORRECTO (sin inversion). Correcto: "Neither DO I." (5) "Me too" en respuesta a negativo: "I didn't like it." La forma correcta es "Me neither" o "Neither did I."

"She is tired" -> pregunta: "Is she tired?" -> auxiliar: IS -> respuesta: "So AM I" (con el auxiliar de primera persona). "They didn't come" -> pregunta: "Did they come?" -> auxiliar: DID -> respuesta: "Neither DID we." "I work" -> DO + I -> "So DO I." "I am" -> AM + I -> "So AM I."

Regla rápida

Positivo: So + [aux] + sujeto (inversion). "I like it." / "So do I." Negativo: Neither/Nor + [aux] + sujeto (inversion). "I don't like it." / "Neither do I." El auxiliar refleja el tiempo del enunciado original. Inversion siempre. Coloquial: Me too (positivo) / Me neither (negativo).

¿Sabías que...?

Las estructuras "so do I" y "neither do I" son ejemplos de lo que los linguistas llaman ELIPSIS DE CLAUSULA (Clause Ellipsis) — la omision de partes predecibles de la clausula para evitar la repeticion. "I enjoy it, and so does she" = en lugar de "I enjoy it, and she enjoys it too."

"The procurement director has already signed off on the revised vendor contract." / "_____ the chief legal officer — she confirmed her approval in this morning's email."

Ejercicio 2 · Elige la correcta

"I do not feel that the current risk mitigation strategy adequately accounts for the systemic interdependencies between the three business units." / "_____ the risk committee — they raised the same concern in last quarter's review."

Ejercicio 3 · Forma la palabra

Complete: "The senior management team was not consulted before the announcement was made." / "_____ the board — which made the communication breakdown even more surprising."

Pista: The original statement is NEGATIVE (was NOT consulted). For negative agreement: Neither/Nor + [auxiliary matching original tense] + subject. The original uses "was" (past simple of BE). What is the correct form?
