Error frecuente

EL ERROR MAS COMUN: "worth to do" = INCORRECTO. "It is worth to read this" = INCORRECTO. Despues de WORTH siempre va GERUNDIO, nunca infinitivo con TO. Correcto: "It is worth READING this." Segundo error: "worth of" = INCORRECTO. "It is worth of visiting" = INCORRECTO (no necesita preposicion). Tercero: confundir la estructura con el sujeto. "This book is worth to read" = INCORRECTO. "This book is worth reading" = correcto (alguien lee el libro — el gerundio tiene un objeto implicito). Cuarto: "worthwhile to doing" = INCORRECTO. WORTHWHILE acepta to-infinitivo ("to do") o gerundio ("doing"), no la combinacion "to + gerundio."

Truco para recordarlo

LA REGLA ANTI-TO: despues de WORTH, la palabra "to" NUNCA aparece directamente. "Worth reading" (correcto). "Worth to read" (incorrecto). Si quieres usar TO = cambia a WORTHWHILE: "worthwhile to read" (correcto). Test rapido: sustituye WORTH por el adjetivo "worthy" y piensa si necesita "of": "worthy of reading" (adjetivo correcto). WORTH = prepositional adjective + gerund. WORTHWHILE = adjective + to-infinitive o gerund.

Worth + gerundio (NUNCA to-infinitivo): "worth reading" (correcto) / "worth to read" (incorrecto). Worthwhile + to-infinitivo o gerundio: "worthwhile to read" o "worthwhile reading" (ambos correctos). Worth = valor de la accion. Worthwhile = merito del esfuerzo global. Nunca: "worth of doing" ni "worth to do."
