Both can mean getting something, but in different ways: 'win' by beating others, 'earn' by working for it.

"Win" is to come first or succeed in a contest by defeating others. The result depends on competition, not on effort alone. "Win a race" = finish first among all competitors.
Our team won the championship!
She won first prize in the competition.
He has won three gold medals in his career.
"Earn" is to gain something through work, effort, or merit. "Earn a salary" = receive pay in exchange for work. "Earn someone's trust" = gain it through consistent, reliable behaviour.
She earns $50,000 a year.
You need to earn people's trust.
He earned his degree after four years of hard work.
Common mistake
- •Using "win" for money or "earn" for competitions.
- •"She wins $3,000 a month" = wrong (correct: She earns).
- •And "He earned the race" = wrong (correct: He won the race).
Trick to remember it
- •"Win" = beat others in a competition (someone loses).
- •"Earn" = gain through merit or work (no loser).
- •Is there a loser? "Win." Is there effort being rewarded? "Earn."
Quick rule
Did you gain it by beating someone (game, race, contest)? "Win." Did you gain it through work or merit (money, respect, degree)? "Earn."

EARN has a rich idiomatic life that always implies deserved effort. "Earn your stripes" comes from the military: soldiers earned the stripes on their uniforms through service and performance, not by chance. "Earn a living", the means of life is "earned" through work, not "won" in a competition. "Earn your keep" (contribute enough to justify your cost), on historical farms, workers who lived on the property had to demonstrate their value by working. All these expressions reflect the semantic core of EARN: the idea that something valuable is obtained through sustained and deserved effort.

"Earn" is to gain through work or effort; "deserve" is to be worthy of something by merit.
Both translate as 'ganar', but one means to win a competition and the other means to defeat an opponent.
"Above" is at a higher level without contact; "over" implies covering, movement, or crossing.
'Currently' means 'at the present time'; 'actually' means 'in reality', not 'nowadays'.
